Do I need to reserve a rental bike?

To guarantee your bikes, we offer reservations for most equipment.  We recommend reservations for customers needing kids’ equipment and for parties of 5 riders or more. Reserve for as little as 2 hours or for the entire day; To keep a bike overnight, please let us know when you pick up. Reservations are accepted until 11:30 AM the same day and can be conveniently made on your mobile device.  We accommodate customers on a walk-up basis all day.  We are available during business hours at 202.842.2453 to assist you with your reservation.  Please send email inquiries to info@bikeandrolldc.com.

What type of bike should I rent?

How does your rental pricing work?

Our rental pricing is flexible and designed to meet your needs. Equipment is rented on an hourly, daily and 24 hour basis.  Longer rental durations are deeply discounted.  Reservations may be made for hourly and daily rentals.  Any time exceeding the reservation duration will be prorated at our standard rates.   For walk-up customers, charges are calculated and determined when equipment is returned. The minimum rate (a 2 hour rate) is used when you return your equipment within two hours of your start time.  The day rate applies to rentals of more than five hours in one business day. And, for just $10 more, you can keep the equipment overnight for a full 24 hours. See our rental page for specific prices.

What’s included in the rental price?

With every Bike and Roll DC rental, you’ll receive a keyed U-lock, a handlebar bag or rack, a local map, and a helmet.  Tire changing kits are available by request.   Our friendly and amazing staff will be able to provide touring tips, suggest routes and answer any other questions you might have. How do I lock my bike when I want to walk around or visit a museum?

We provide you with a keyed U-lock. Bikes should be locked to bike racks or other immoveable objects. If you are stopping on federal property it is important to ask where you can lock your bike. The handlebar bags should either be detached and taken with you or emptied and left open.

Do I need to wear a helmet?

Washington, DC and Virginia law requires individuals aged 16 and under to wear a helmet while riding a bicycle; we strongly recommend that all of our participants wear a helmet. Wearing a properly fitted helmet reduces head injuries by 85%. We require participants under 18 to wear a helmet.
