5 Things to do in DC in June

Summer has come to DC, and before it gets TOO hot out, check out some awesome outdoor activities in the District this month!

1. Capital Pride

The LGBT community is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Pride in DC this month. Festivities include a parade on Saturday, June 13, a festival on Sunday, June 14, and countless other parties and celebrations. 2. DC Jazz Festival

The annual event features more than 100 jazz performances across DC from June 10-16. Performers include Oscar and Grammy winner Common, Grammy winner Esperanza Spalding, and more!

3. Dupont-Kalorama Museum Walk Weekend

On June 6 and 7, enjoy a variety of free activities for all ages, including exhibitions, live music, food, demonstrations, and more! The event is a great opportunity for visitors to discover Dupont Circle. Free shuttle busses will run between museums, including Anderson House, Phillips Collection, and others.

4. NoMa Summer Screen 2015

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. this summer at Storey Park, catch a free outdoor movie. This year’s theme is Dance, Dance, Dance! Films screening in June include Center Stage, Bride & Prejudice, Flashdance, and Strictly Ballroom. And oh yes…there will be food trucks!

5. 2015 World Police & Fire Games

From June 26-July 5, check out the World Police and Fire Games in Fairfax, VA. Sports include traditional Olympic-style competitions as well as events related to the job performance of public safety personnel. Events will be free and open to the public.
