Ah, and it feels like only yesterday we were writing about upcoming September events…

We’re only a few days shy of October, and the DC area is absolutely brimming with wonderful fall activities for you to take part in! Here we’ve hand picked our top 5 (or T5 as we like to say) favorite events to check out next month:

Top 5 October

1. WalkingTown DC

Actually kicking off Monday September 30th, this week long event (sponsored by Cultural Tourism DC) offers free guided walking tours of the district. Reserve your spots now before they fill up!

2. Taste of DC

A popular annual culinary festival, Taste of DC offers tastings from 50+ DC restaurants and a Beer Garden with over 30 brews. Come hungry, leave happy.

3. Bike and Roll’s Bike Sale

We’ll be hosting our second bike sale of the season on October 20th from 11:00am-3:00pm. This time around, we’re offering several Road and Performance bikes, as well as comfort Hybrid Adult bikes and select Kids’ equipment. Come early and ride off into the horizon with your new set of wheels!

4. Washington International Horse Show

A premiere equestrian event, the Washington International Horse Show will run from October 22-27 at the Verizon Center. The show will feature two performances daily (except Sunday) with over 600 horses and riders competing for top prizes.

5. Halloween in DC

From Fright Fest at Six Flags to Boo at the Zoo, DC is the perfect destination for all things All Hallows’ Eve! Take your pick from corn mazes, pumpkin patches, ghost tours, haunted houses, zombie runs, and Trick or Treat outings– we’ve got it all.

 

Bike Sale Sunday October 20th!

Ask and ye shall receive! You wanted another bike sale, you got it!

Couldn’t make it to our first sale? Didn’t find the right size for you? Wanted a Road or Performance bike instead? Well, we’ve got you covered on all counts! Join us at our National Mall location at the Old Post Office Pavilion’s rear plaza on Sunday, October 20th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM for our second bike sale of the season!

Come for the fun, stay for the bikes! We’ll be selling our Trek 7300 Adult Comfort Hybrid bikes in a wide array of sizes (even smaller sizes that will make a perfect starter bike for your teen!), Trek 7.3FX Performance bikes, Trek 1.5 Road bikes, and a limited assortment of kids’ equipment.

Again, the sales are cash only and final, so please come prepared. See you in a month, potential cyclists!

Car Free Days in DC

Keep your keys out of the ignition, people! Go either completely car free, or just car light, to help support more sustainable forms of transportation for this year’s Car Free Days in DC.

It’s simple– just swap your typical car commute for bicycling, walking, or public transit! Don’t have a bike? Rent one of ours for the weekend and bike on over to some of these awesome DC events to celebrate the movement:

There’s nothing quite like autumn in the district, and it’s just around the corner! This weekend will bring a taste of crisper weather and with it comes a wanderlust for the perfect fall day trip! We’ve rounded up a list of the best day trips to take from DC.

Take in the wonderful shopping, dining, boating, and charming scenery in this lovely coastal seaport city that is the home of the United States Naval Academy and St. John’s college.

George Washington’s digs really have it all! From stunning views to interactive exhibits and immaculate gardens, the 18th century plantation is a must-see for anyone in the DC area. And to really check out the lovely upcoming fall foliage, try biking to and from the estate on the Mount Vernon trail!

An hour away from DC, Charm City is an often overlooked and underrated gem of a metropolis! Explore the harbor, take time to check out the National Aquarium, and try out some of the fantastic culinary fare this uber fun city has to offer.
